For the second time, Amgen has been named one of The Sunday Times’ Top 100 “Best Companies to Work For” in the UK. Amgen was ranked 56 among the top 100 mid-sized workplaces. For this ranking, mid-sized firms are considered companies with 250 to 4,999 employees. Nearly 1,000 companies were evaluated for the ranking this year.
“We are delighted that Amgen has been recognized as a top employer among other elite organizations,” said John Kearney, General Manager, Amgen U.K. and Ireland. “Of particular interest was the fact that Amgen was recognized for its strengths in leadership, strong principles and making a positive difference for the world.”
Each year The Sunday Times and Best Companies, a workplace engagement company, assemble a ranking of companies in the United Kingdom. To be eligible, a company must have been in existence for at least three years and have a minimum of 50 full-time employees or part-time equivalents working in the United Kingdom.
Staff from participating organizations are asked to complete a 66-point questionnaire measuring critical factors on their overall workplace experience, including assessments of leadership, direct managers and teammates, work/life balance, career opportunities, rewards, and the company’s involvement in the community.
This year, for the first time, Amgen staff representing all parts of our UK based organization, in both Uxbridge and Cambridge, participated in the survey.
Headquartered in Thousand Oaks, California, Amgen has been an important part of the UK biotechnology sector since 1989. The company has more than 450 staff and three offices across the UK and Ireland dedicated to Research & Development and Commercial Operations.
