Amgen partners with patient advocacy groups for the benefit of patients and in a way that is true to the Industry Codes of Practice and Amgen's policy. Amgen is committed to making public the scope of its partnerships in the UK & Ireland in order to increase transparency. This includes stating the amount of funding that Amgen provides each year.

For the purposes of transparency and clarity, the following declarations include donations and sponsorships provided by Amgen Limited (UK), Amgen Ireland Limited, and also donations and sponsorships made by Amgen GmbH (Europe) to patient advocacy organizations based in the UK and Ireland.


Blood Cancer UK (formerly Bloodwise)

Blood Cancer UK is a community dedicated to beating blood cancer by funding research and supporting those affected. In 2019, Amgen Ltd (UK) provided a donation of £3,000 for a ‘grant holder’s (a community of blood cancer researchers) day’.

Bowel Cancer UK

Bowel Cancer UK is the UK’s leading bowel cancer charity. It is determined to save lives and improve the quality of life of everyone affected by bowel cancer. Its vision is a future where nobody dies of the disease. In 2019, Amgen Ltd (UK) provided sponsorship of £7,000 to sponsor two nurse study days.

Breast Cancer Now

Breast Cancer Now is the UK’s first comprehensive breast cancer charity, combining world-class research and life-changing care to build a complete view of breast cancer and make faster progress for everyone affected. Crohn’s & Colitis UK

Crohn’s & Colitis UK is the UK’s leading charity in the battle against Crohn’s Disease and Ulcerative Colitis. Founded as a patients’ association in 1979, it now has 40,000 members across the UK. In 2019, Amgen Ltd (UK) provided a donation of £5,000 towards the charity’s development for patient centred services.

Crohn’s and Colitis in Childhood Research Association (CICRA)

CICRA’s mission is to lead research into better treatments, to support children and families with relevant information and advice, to work with health professionals to improve care, and to give children a voice to increase public understanding of Crohn's and colitis. In 2019, Amgen Ltd (UK) supported CICRA with £15,000 to develop its digital content for young people.

HEART UK

HEART UK’s aim is to prevent premature deaths caused by high cholesterol. HEART UK is committed to raising awareness about the risks of high cholesterol, lobbying for better detection of those at risk and supporting health professional training. In 2019, Amgen Ltd (UK) provided £54,000 for membership to HEART UK’s Campaigning Committee and Familial Hypercholesterolaemia Action Group; sponsorship and delegate fees for staff for its annual conference of £18,230; £721 and £628.20 for attending internal meetings; £641.25 for sponsorship for a North East Lipid Forum meeting. Additionally, Amgen Ltd (UK) collaborated with HEART UK on a social media project to raise awareness of the dangers of unmanaged cholesterol. This support consisted of the provision of £23,253.55 paid directly to Facebook to facilitate the distribution of content, plus £26,823.75 provided to WE Worldwide (communications agency) to facilitate the set-up and ongoing analysis of the campaign’s performance and £3,713.25 to provide support to HEART UK to enable it to perform website updates as part of the campaign.

The ITP Support Association is a UK registered charity which aims to promote and improve the general welfare of patients, and the families of patients with immune (idiopathic) thrombocytopenic purpura. Leukaemia Care

Leukaemia Care exists to provide vital care and support to all those whose lives have been affected by blood or lymphatic cancer. In 2019, Amgen Ltd (UK) provided a grant of £15,000 to support its core patient support services as well as healthcare professional education.

Melanoma Focus

Melanoma Focus concentrate efforts in the fight against melanoma, the most serious form of skin cancer. In 2019, Amgen Ltd (UK) provided sponsorship of £8,000 for a Melanoma Focus Study Day and regional meeting.

Melanoma Patient Conference CIC

Melanoma Patient Conference CIC has worked with patients and the medical profession to create a programme for an annual national event to provide information for patients on the current systems of care, treatment access and support for melanoma. In 2019, Amgen Ltd (UK) provided sponsorship of £1,000 to support its annual conference.

Myeloma UK

Myeloma UK aims to help myeloma patients live longer and with a better quality of life. The charity focuses on accelerating the discovery and development and access to new treatments, while helping patients and their families cope with everything a diagnosis of myeloma brings. In 2019, Amgen Ltd (UK) supported Myeloma UK with a grant of £80,000 to provide a range of services to patients and their families; sponsorship of £9,990 for an Amgen Team to participate in the Myeloma UK London-Paris Bike Ride; £202.08 for Myeloma UK t-shirts for an awareness day activity and £810.00 in speaker fees.

National Kidney Federation

The National Kidney Federation is the largest kidney patient charity in the UK. It is run by kidney patients, for kidney patients. In 2019, Amgen Ltd (UK) granted a donation of £12,500 to produce a cookbook for kidney patients.

National Rheumatoid Arthritis Society (NRAS)

The National Rheumatoid Arthritis Society is ‘the voice’ of people affected by Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) across the whole of the UK and Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis (JIA). In 2019, Amgen Ltd (UK) provided NRAS with sponsorship of £8,000 for corporate membership fees, donations of £8,000 to support its Rheum4U patient events and £14,976 for a patient survey. In addition, honorarium, travel and expenses of £1,248.49 were paid to NRAS to support a representative to attend an advisory board meeting.

The Royal Osteoporosis Society

The Royal Osteoporosis Society (ROS) is the only UK-wide organisation dedicated to finding a cure for osteoporosis and improving the lives of everyone affected by it. In 2019, Amgen Ltd (UK) agreed a corporate partnership of £40,000, £750 to sponsor a local ROS meeting, and £73,614 as sponsorship of a Vertebral Fracture programme. In addition, consultancy fees and expenses were paid to ROS to support a representative to prepare for and attend an osteoporosis hackathon.

The Patients Association

The Patients Association is an independent patient charity campaigning for improvements in health and social care for patients. In 2019, Amgen Ltd (UK) provided the charity with sponsorship of £12,500 to provide patients with shared decision resources, plus a donation of £4,000 to support the charity’s helpline and information services.

Croí is a registered charity and its goal is to lead the fight against heart disease and stroke, with a special focus on the West of Ireland. FH Europe The European FH Patient Network is actively working together to secure early identification and diagnosis of familial hypercholesterolaemia (FH) to prevent early cardiovascular disease. In 2019, Amgen GmbH (Europe) provided grants of £35,000 for support towards its annual network meeting and developing member skills and £42,000 for general support for activities.

Myeloma UK

The charity focuses on accelerating the discovery and development and access to new treatments, while helping patients and their families cope with everything a diagnosis of myeloma brings. In 2019, Amgen GmbH (Europe) supported Myeloma UK with sponsorship of £14,935 to enter a European team to the Myeloma UK London-Paris Bike Ride.

In addition to the above Amgen Ltd (UK) and Amgen Ireland Ltd also donated £1,710 direct to charities in support of staff volunteering events and fundraising.
