Amgen partners with patient advocacy groups for the benefit of patients and in a way that is true to the Industry Codes of Practice and Amgen's policy. Amgen is committed to making public the scope of its partnerships in the UK & Ireland in order to increase transparency. This includes stating the amount of funding that Amgen provides each year.

For the purposes of transparency and clarity, the following declarations include grants, donations and sponsorships provided by Amgen Limited (UK), Amgen Ireland Limited, and grants, donations and sponsorships made by Amgen Inc. and Amgen GmbH (Europe) to patient advocacy organisations based in the UK and Ireland.

Asthma + Lung UK

They are dedicated to helping create a world where good lung health and the ability to breathe freely are a basic right enjoyed by all.

In 2022, Amgen Ltd (UK) provided sponsorship of £10,000 to support the Taskforce for Lung Health - the largest ever collaboration of the respiratory sector, bringing together key stakeholders and influencers from across the respiratory arena to provide a collective voice and take action to transform the landscape of lung health.

 

HEART UK – The Cholesterol Charity

HEART UK is the UK’s only cholesterol charity, providing support, information and influencing services for families and health professionals. Their vision is to prevent early disease and deaths from cholesterol and other blood fat (lipid) conditions in the UK. Their aim is for people to know and understand their cholesterol and other blood fat (lipid) levels and take appropriate action.

In 2022, Amgen Ltd (UK) provided sponsorship of £26,460 for membership of HEART UK’s CVD Collaborative Group; a sponsorship of £20,000 for a symposia session and a virtual booth at the charity’s Annual Conference; and a grant of £10,000 to support their Primary Care Education Programme. In addition, an honorarium of £1,115 was provided for their input and attendance at an event to raise awareness of the need for active Lipid Management Policy within Scotland.

 

ITP Support Association

The ITP Support Association is a UK registered charity which aims to promote and improve the general welfare of patients, and the families of patients with immune (idiopathic) thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP).

In 2022, Amgen Ltd (UK) provided sponsorship of £10,000 in support of the Annual ITP Patients Convention (held virtually) to provide awareness and education to help manage ITP and improve quality of life for those with ITP.

 

Leukaemia Care

Leukaemia Care is the UK’s leading leukaemia charity. For over 50 years, they have been dedicated to ensuring that everyone affected receives the best possible diagnosis, information, advice, treatment and support.

In 2022, Amgen Ltd (UK) provided a grant of £10,000 to support the charity’s expansion of their core services for blood cancer patients and their families.

 

Myeloma UK

Myeloma UK is the only organisation in the UK dealing exclusively with myeloma.  The charity is dedicated to myeloma patients – making sure they get access to the right treatment at the right time.  It strives to improve standards of treatment and care through research, education and raising awareness of myeloma.

In 2022, Amgen Ltd (UK) supported Myeloma UK with a grant of £25,000 to support the provision of a library of patient information plus sponsorship of £10,000 for a team from Amgen UK to participate in Myeloma UK’s London to Paris Bike Ride fundraiser.

 

National Rheumatoid Arthritis Society (NRAS)

The National Rheumatoid Arthritis Society (NRAS) is the only patient-led organisation in the UK specialising in rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA). Due to its targeted focus on RA and JIA, NRAS provides truly expert and wide-ranging services to support, educate and campaign for people living with these complex autoimmune conditions, their families and the health professionals who treat them.

 

In 2022, Amgen Ltd (UK) provided sponsorship of £10,000 for corporate membership of NRAS.

 

 

PNH Support

PNH Support aims to promote, protect and preserve the physical and mental health of those diagnosed with Paroxysmal Nocturnal Haemoglobinuria (“PNH”) who reside in England, Wales and Northern Ireland (either permanently or temporarily) through the provision of support, education, advocacy and practical advice.

In 2022, Amgen Ltd (UK) paid a consultancy service fee of £247.25 for the provision of expert insight into the PNH disease state, key topics of concern for patients and the patient journey.

 

Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation

Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation is the leading UK lung cancer charity dedicated to helping everyone affected by the disease from diagnosis, through treatment, living with the disease and end of life care.

The Royal Osteoporosis Society
